Board Of Directors Chris Horbach

Chris Horbach

Executive Director

TCRA Executive Director, Chris Horbach is currently a Product Engineer at BorgWarner Transmission Systems, where he supports the development of cutting edge friction materials and groove patterns that will be found in 10 speed automatic transmissions.

Chris has been in the industry for over 20 years, with experience in both Aftermarket and OE product development. Chris has also shared in ownership of a transmission business where he was hands-on, while still maintaining his full time career in Product Development.

After graduating from Indiana State University in 1995, Chris entered the automatic transmission product industry with Raybestos Aftermarket, now Raybestos Powertrain, in Crawfordsville, IN. Wanting to move back near his old friends and family, Chris opted for a position with BorgWarner Transmission Systems in Bellwood, IL.

Chris has served as a TCRA Board Member from 2011-2013, before he accepted the position of Executive Director for TCRA in September 2013. Some of his responsibilities include coordinating the annual TCRA Seminar, writing and proofing Articles for the Newsletter, evolving the TCRA Website, fielding member inquiries, and creating Ads.

He admires the ingenuity that comes from the torque converter rebuilders because they will not be told that a converter is non-serviceable. As a matter of fact one of his favorite quotes is “Nothing is as embarrassing as watching someone do something you said could not be done.”

Chris enjoys time with his family, attending Church, going to local cruise-ins, working out, shooting guns, playing pool, and watching both motorsports and professional football.

He is currently working on rebuilding his first car, a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu. Mods include a Turbocharged LS engine, 4L80E, 9” Ford rearend, and coilover suspension.

He expects to see membership growth both domestically and internationally, and suggests members take full advantage of their membership by using the TCRA website and communicating with each other by way of the TCRA Forums.
